YoUni

Parent-managed family learning

Math learning for Grades 4–12.

Build mathematical understanding through worked examples, visual models, checked practice, and work your child explains to you. YoUni offers Grade 4 Mathematics and a mathematics course for each grade from 5 through 12.

Current family beta: free for up to three parent-managed learners. No payment method required.

What each grade covers

YoUni family course topics by grade
GradeMain topics
Grade 4Whole-number operations and place value; factors and patterns; fractions and decimals to hundredths; measurement, angles, line plots, geometry and symmetry.
Grade 5Place value, expressions and patterns, fraction operations, volume, data and geometry.
Grade 6Ratios and rates, rational numbers, expressions and equations, geometry and statistics.
Grade 7Proportional relationships, rational arithmetic, equations, geometry, sampling and probability.
Grade 8Irrational numbers, exponents, linear equations and systems, functions, transformations and bivariate data.
Grade 9Algebra I: polynomial operations, functions and sequences, graphing and descriptive statistics.
Grade 10Geometry: proof and constructions, similarity and trigonometry, circles, measurement and conditional probability.
Grade 11Algebra II: complex numbers, rational functions, exponentials and logarithms, simulation and statistical inference.
Grade 12Advanced functions and quantitative modeling: trigonometry, conics, vectors and matrices, probability. This is distinct from the separate Calculus I course.

For limits, derivatives and integrals, explore the separate free launch-grade Calculus I course. Grade 12 mathematics here focuses on advanced functions and quantitative modeling.

Learning at home

Move from a model to an explanation

Authored lessons and hints, checked practice, and parent-reviewed coursework play different roles. Review the work the learner actually completes.

See the idea

Read the lesson and worked example, then describe the quantities or draw a model before choosing a method.

Practice and correct

Try the checked practice. Use the authored hint after an attempt, identify the error, and explain the revised approach.

Show understanding

Review the learner’s actual make-and-explain work. Ask why the method works and whether the units and result make sense.

Try a short family discussion

Ask your learner to compare two ways to solve a familiar problem. For fractions, draw equal-size wholes; for algebra, compare a graph with an equation. The explanation matters as well as the result.

New Jersey standards and course sequence

These courses use New Jersey standards as a reference. Where New Jersey defines expectations by grade band or high-school subject, YoUni chooses how to distribute them among its courses; the state does not prescribe that individual-grade sequence.

YoUni provides supplemental learning. It does not confer accredited school credit or degrees and does not guarantee academic or exam outcomes.

Access, parent consent and the app

The current family beta is free for up to three parent-managed learners, with parent consent before learner creation and private progress for each learner. Family learning is separate from High School test-prep subscriptions.

The courses listed describe website availability; app availability can differ by version. Download Youni. You for iPhone and iPad, or use the website on a phone or computer.
