Read with evidence
Ask which passage supports an interpretation and whether another reading is possible. Keep the claim connected to the text.

Help your learner read closely, support interpretations with evidence, and develop original writing. Grades 5–12 combine reading, language, research, composition, and speaking and listening, with increasingly independent work.

Learning at home
Authored lessons and hints, checked practice, and parent-reviewed coursework play different roles. Review the work the learner actually completes.
Ask which passage supports an interpretation and whether another reading is possible. Keep the claim connected to the text.
Review actual drafts, revisions and source evidence. A checked response does not establish the quality of an original essay.
Observe required discussions and presentations. Speaking and listening need actual participation, as well as preparation.
Choose a passage the learner has read. Ask what a character or author wants the reader to understand, then ask for two pieces of evidence. Invite the learner to revise the claim after discussing an alternative interpretation.
These courses use New Jersey standards as a reference. Where New Jersey defines expectations by grade band or high-school subject, YoUni chooses how to distribute them among its courses; the state does not prescribe that individual-grade sequence.
