Family privacy notice
Updated October 6, 2026
This notice governs parent-managed learner profiles and takes precedence over the general policy for those profiles. Family learning is free. Only reviewed, released supplemental courses are available; saved written and observed work is described below.
Youni.you is requesting your permission to create parent-managed learner profiles. You must be at least 18 and the child’s parent or legal guardian. We have collected your parent account details to send this notice. We do not create a child profile until you accept this notice and complete the separate email confirmation.
After consent, you may create up to three learner profiles. We collect a nickname, grade, birth month and year, a profile identifier, checked answers, practice timing, hint use, lesson progress, scheduled review, and your rubric ratings. These records provide the learning service, remember progress, and choose authored practice. We do not require a full child name, child email, precise birthday, school, address, photo, audio or location.
Reviewed courses may ask learners to save written explanations, original writing, discussion notes or descriptions of observed work. We retain the submitted text, task and course versions, saved revisions and timestamps. A parent may review an exact saved attempt using an anchored rubric and written feedback; we retain that reviewer’s account identifier and role, ratings, feedback, observation confirmation and review revisions. These records support instruction and factual completion tracking. Written work is not automatically graded for mastery, and no submitted writing is sent to an AI provider.
Keep submitted work about the task. Do not include a child’s full name, email, school, postal address, phone number, medical information or other private information. Tasks use text only; this feature does not collect photographs, uploaded files, audio or video. A description of an investigation does not establish that the learner performed it; observed-performance reviews require the adult to confirm that observation.
Saved coursework and waiting revisions are separated by learner, course and content version on a device. Waiting coursework expires from its queue after seven days. It can be submitted only after the app verifies the same active learner. A changed task or a conflicting revision requires review before saving; the app does not silently substitute new task content. Signing out clears coursework drafts and waiting revisions. Session expiry, deletion or consent withdrawal clears private coursework when detected; an offline device cannot discover a server change until it reconnects. Parent exports include saved attempts and review history, and learner deletion removes these records with the other learning data.
Family learning uses authored lessons and explanations. Child profiles cannot use AI providers, advertising, social features, purchases, general support forms, or free-text bug reports. Child issue reports contain only a fixed issue choice and validated course, item, content version and app version. We do not attach a learner name or profile identifier to those reports.
We use hosting and backup providers to operate and secure the learning service, and an email provider to send parent notices and consent links. We do not sell child information or use it for advertising or AI training. We require providers handling child information to limit their use to the reviewed service purposes. Providers also process technical and account information under their applicable terms. Provider terms and settings must be verified before family enrollment opens.
Sign in to parent controls to review progress, download a learner’s records, delete a profile or revoke consent. Revocation immediately ends online learner access and deletes managed learner records. Reconnecting apps remove retained learner data; an offline device can remain unaware of revocation until it reconnects, and its session expires within 24 hours. Parent controls require your password again after entering learner mode.
Active learning records are retained to provide the learning service. After 12 months without learner activity we send a parent notice; the profile is deleted if it remains inactive for 30 days after that notice is sent successfully. Each consent email states when its link expires. Our application removes its family operational email records after 30 days. This application cleanup does not remove copies held by the email provider or in recipient mailboxes; their retention and legal holds follow the applicable provider terms and settings.
Our learning database backups have a maximum retention of 30 days, and recovery must reapply later account and learner deletions before the service resumes. A separate deletion record containing account or profile identifiers is kept for 35 days to prevent deleted records from returning during recovery. These backup and recovery controls must be verified before enrollment opens.
After you accept the direct notice, we wait at least one hour before attempting to send the separate confirmation email. Parent controls show when it is scheduled. Email delays can affect arrival. If a link expires or a message fails, request a new notice in parent controls; that replaces the old links and starts the two-step process again.
Consent is optional. You can decline by taking no further action, or revoke later in parent controls. We will not create a child profile unless consent is complete. Pending consent records expire and are removed according to the stated retention limits.

Parent choices
Before a profile exists, sign in, request the notice, read it and select Accept. Follow the separate confirmation email and explicitly confirm. Viewing an email link does not grant consent. You may stop at any time. After confirmation, add a learner using a nickname.
Use parent controls to review, export or delete a learner. Deleting a profile removes its learning responses, mastery, review schedule, parent ratings, saved coursework attempts and review history and sessions from the active service. Revoking consent removes all managed learners while preserving the adult account. Deleting the adult account also removes its managed learners.
Devices and security
Learner sessions use essential authentication and expire within 24 hours. Each learner has a separate local cache and response queue. Signing out removes active private data. Reconnecting after deletion, revocation or session expiry removes retained learner data. Keep shared devices locked and use the parent password to switch profiles.
We retain only the information needed for learning, parent controls and essential security. Family pages do not load third-party analytics, fonts, embeds or advertising. Do not include personal information in checked answers or written coursework. A parent may provide explanatory text in a bug report; learner reports use fixed choices.
